Backyard ponds

That turn your yard into a piece of nature — built around water, stone, and the calm of your own backyard ecosystem.

A BACKYARD BUILT AROUND THE WATER — BACKYARD POND & KOI POND INSTALLATION

A pond changes the whole feel of a backyard. Instead of an accent tucked into a corner, it becomes the heart of the space — the thing your patio faces, your paths lead to, and your eyes settle on the moment you step outside. Backyard design is shifting away from open lawns toward layouts that feel grounded and intentional, using water as structure rather than decoration. Add a waterfall or stream and you bring in the sound of moving water too, turning an ordinary yard into something that feels like a slice of nature itself.

The biggest shift in ponds today is how easy they've become to own. Low-maintenance design is now a baseline expectation, with modern ecosystem ponds built to balance themselves — plants filter the water, beneficial bacteria break down organic matter, and the fish help keep algae in check, so nature does most of the upkeep instead of you. Continuously circulating water keeps everything fresh and naturally reduces algae growth. Whether you want a true koi pond, a planted water garden, or a pondless waterfall with no standing water at all, today's ponds are designed to be enjoyed, not maintained.

Built Like Nature Would

 Build It

A great pond looks like it was always there. We build with natural materials — stacked boulders, river rock, and gravel beds — layered to create the texture, depth, and edges of a real waterway rather than a liner dropped in the ground. Varying the stone sizes and shaping shelves at different depths gives koi room to swim and shelter, supports aquatic plants, and makes the whole thing read as part of the landscape instead of an addition to it.

Plantings are what tie it all together. Water lilies and submerged plants soften the surface and feed the ecosystem, while grasses, perennials, and groundcover along the banks blur the line between pond and garden. A waterfall or stream adds sound and movement, oxygenates the water for healthy fish, and gives the eye somewhere to follow. Finished with the right curves and a natural, uneven edge, the pond settles into your yard like it grew there.

That's what separates a designed pond from a hole full of water. Built on a properly excavated base with quality filtration, circulation, and rockwork, your pond runs clean and clear for years, supports koi and plant life through every season, and becomes the kind of backyard retreat you'll want to sit beside every evening.
